Hi! you are using the plastic-bottle-stile + hydroponics?
In Hydroponics the size of the pot for the roots doesnt matter as much, because there is no earth so you dont need much space!.
The plant will develop special roots designt to get the most nutrition out of the waterstream thats pritty small.
But you should concern yourself over how mucgh space will the grown plant need obove the roots. they can also grwow around the plant obove them a little bit;-)
So a normal 1 to 1,5 liter bottle should suffice for the roots of normal plants.
Vegtables where you eat the roots and where the roots get big are not growable like that.In reply to - kikouk commented on the blog post Plants Table This is fantastic ! That were the only infos missing before I started planting. Thanks a lot ! Continue Well with this, I’m sure it’s usefull to everybody who starts a WF. I’m wondering if there is a specification about the size of the pot to use for each [...] · View
Hi!! There is no info on the Kelvin spectrum with this lamp but the wavelength explanation looks good! I think i will get this one and http://www.conrad.biz/ce/de/product/574693/Megaman-MEGAMAN-ESL-HELIX-20W-E27865-spiralfoermig-Energiesparlampe-E27-20-W-Tageslicht-Weiss-Spiralform this one to komplement each other. It is possible that some of them will fry early but I think in the end its still cheap because you don’t [...]
Some other Posts on which lamp: http://our.windowfarms.org/2011/12/19/buy-this-lamp/ cheap for 10€. But there is no preview of the Kelvin range. in the manuel however there is the nm Range. It works for some but some get problems with this lamp after a few weeks. They (German conrad store) have quicksilver in them and high use of [...]
And here are some more basic infos!
I’m interested in this too. But so far I find it hard to get good information… Here is some information (not much but e bit) from the newest book I read. from ‘Soilless Culture Management’ Author: M. Schwarz 1995 ‘Fruit crops such as tomatoes, generally need more light than vegetative crops, such as lettuce.’ ‘The [...]
I just joined the group because I’m interested in learning about selfmade nutritions, but I can’t find where you write your stuff?
A little bit lost here;-)
Happy to help^^
Die Quellen für die Angaben findest du ganz unten unter “Sources” und tony hat auch noch ein paar links bereit gestellt wenn du noch mehr gutes Material findest gerne hier Posten!
How is your research going? I’m researching more into the Plants direction for when the system is finished. If you would like to take a look: http://our.windowfarms.org/2012/02/10/plants-table/
My research on building my own EC/ Ph meter isn’t finished jet.
Maybe it helps?
I looked molasse up^^ And it is just a kind of sugar sirup. a pre step or the waste from producing sugar out of sugar cane or root. So is this about the sugar to feed the microorganisms or is the organic part (acids, salts, vitamins) important too? And (as asked above) what is the [...]
It makes me happy to be appreciated ^^
If anyone has more information please comment here or write me
@Jurriaan Schreuder and building the thing is just on step…
The information and experiments on plants need to be structured for easy access and summarised. I started a bit… but it is quite a lot of work.
But it is FUN ^^
Oh oh.. and it looked so pretty…
We wanted to use it to^^, because it is dark and may be easier to clean…
but we do not want to eat it^^
Thanx for the warning!
Hi! I looked up your plants in my new made Table (See in the category ‘Plants’ the Post directly below you^^) Basil ph: 5.5-6.0(- 6.5?) EC: 10-16 cf (or 1.0-1.6 mS/cm or 700-1120 ppm) Tomatos (I haven’t found any specifics so this will hadv to do for Cherry-Tomato^^): ph: 6.0-6.5 and EC: 20-50 cf (or [...]
Hm.. I can not edit my post so I have to post a new one^^ I have watched some of the videos and it seams quite some work! Though the worm tea is made like this: Get a big bin for some galleons of Water. Let it bubble with an air lift pump over night [...]
Hi! Great that you got it finished so nicely *thumbs up* I’m still wondering how the Layers are changed (is that very messy? are all worms up and over the netting so you just take the lowest wood drawer out) how do you make that worm tea, and what do you do with the rest? [...]
Hi! Nice Setup^^ If you do not like the sound of your pump you could also think about an additional top reservoir. I’m thinking about that myself, but I’m worried about the wight. Maybe if it is not that big, and the big reservoir is still the bottom one… I’m not shure how that would [...]
Hi! An Air pump with one exit is plenty enough! The ones with two are just more expensive^^ Even the smallest air pump has plenty of force. Some people prefere it because you do not need to divide the flows yourself, if you want more than 1 column of window farming. Most important is (for [...]
