Hi Sarah. Thank you for the response. I’ll be posting photos of the first prototype as soon as my seeds sprout in the plastic bag pockets.

    Wish me luck.

ThumbnailI believe that the WindowFarm (WF) community is unanimous in the concept of reducing waste (PET bottles), and growing food to reduce our carbon footprint. In this context, I think we should also think of utilizing the most ubiquitous and damaging plastic product there is — the plastic grocery bag. In the Philippines, it’s one of [...]

Hi there, I’ve experienced this problem before too. The solution is to move the location of where the air is going in to the air lift tube (air intake). Per my observation, the air intake should be placed higher than the maximum loop of the water intake. I know it’s a little hard to understand [...]

    Hello @angeltech!

The bottles are actually clear PETs. I spray painted them fire hydrant red. I use coco-peat for my growing media because they retain moisture. I used to use pebbles only but It’s so hot in Manila that my plants dry out.

I hope you can post some of your photos too.

    Thanks Roell

    Hi @johaeben,

Thanks so much. I like your red bottles. It reminds me of a local beer here!

    Cheers,

    Sam

      Hi again Sam,
Thanks for the reply. I also live in a colder climate than you, where thinge do not grow as fast. But, I love your system. In a few weeks I’ll be posting pictures after I get things settled down in my new location. Happy windowfarming. Sylvia

Hi John, Thanks for the comment. Anyway, kangkong is a very delicious and nutritional vegetable. Here in the Philippines and much of South East Asia we use it for salads, side dish, even main course. I particularly love it stir fried with garlic and oystershire sauce. Yum! As for you food slavery, it’s also happening [...]

Metro Manila, Philippines: Like any major city in south east Asia, Metro Manila is concrete laden, very hot and not really conducive to growing anything. A year ago, I built a traditional NFT hydroponic system. It worked for a while but a lot of things went wrong. Aside from the cost and the effort put [...]
