I can imagine that you would be able to collect water at the bottom and manually water the plants from the top.
Then again, not being a closed-loop thing, it would evaporate pretty quickly.
So I dunno. Try it!

Hey y’all, just stumbled across this last night and thought it would be an excellent way to keep my winter veggies from frying in the Texas heat.
Not gonna be much activity for the next few weeks, as I’m traveling for a while… but. I will start grabbing those water bottles.
