I had this problem too. How big is your reservior? The bigger and taller your tank is the more water presure you will get in your tubes and you will get good lift. It is very important that the tubes are straight up, any bends/curves will create resistance. Also the size of your tubes will make a difference. If you chack out some of my post I made a diagram of how mine is set up. I have got about 7ft of lift. Hope that helps, Rama

Thanks, we run the pump for 15 min every hour during the day and 15 min every two hours at night. The bottles are from hummingbird feeders we bought at the dollar store, cut them up and painted them.

What a great idea! I can’t wait to see photos once you have got all the plants in, it look stylish. I think I will be adding additional wires for support and then cutting off the tops of the bottles. I like the idea of more room for the plants. I would like to recommend the air lift system. People say it makes noise, but mine is whisper quiet. You can stand next to it and not know it’s on. I think it’s all about how you set it up. The only bad part is you have to have the tube going up as vertical as you can so the reservoir will have to be right under your farm. Check out the link bellow. I put together a nice diagram on how we set up our airlift system, hope it helps!

In reply to - Vedette posted an update: So finally after 2.5 months, I got this baby started. I drilled 3 evenly spaced holes in each funnel and hung them with ’S’ hooks to the wire knots. The knots are adjustable so I can change the height of the plants pretty easily if needed. It was all super simple. (in [...] · View -

I have a very nice window farm. I built it with two holes on either side of the bottle to allow 2 plants to grow out each side. This has been working very well and my plants are taking over my window, yay! As I was trimming some dead leaves I started wondering, why have holes [...]tinaamsalu@yahoo.com

Thank you, The peppers just grew up like this, not a lot of leaves around the lower parts. The fertilizer I’m using looks peach red, it turns that brownish color after it circulates through the system a bit. I washed the clay pellets before I used them, but I think I still get some clay [...]

New plants in the farm! So we had a little problem. Our strawberries died. I’m not sure what happened, but we could never make them happy. So after changing out the old plants with new ones and doing some changes, everything is growing well. We are growing mint, peppers, and nasturtiums. Check out our last posting [...] -

Trygve, Removing the plant from the pellets will depend on the plant. I grew peas in two containers and the roots were so thick and tangled that after the pea harvest when I removed them I had to cut them out with a knife. Strawberries on the other hand came out with just a little [...]

Hello Admin, I don’t recommend not using the net cups. Major clog issues. The root system of my plants just grew right to the bottom of the bottle and got bunched up clogging the water flow. The extra weight was not an issue on our suspension, our set up is very sturdy anyway. I’m not [...]

Our timer cost $14, and allows us to turn on the pump at 15 minute intervals. We cycle it on for 15 minutes every hour when light, and 15 minutes every 2 hours when dark.

I am a little worried that the peas might overtake the strawberries that are above them, but our window gets a lot of sun and is very tall, so hopefully the strawberries won’t mind the bit of shade the peas will provide. We will have to wait and see how they co-exist.
