I’m curious when you say water runs sunrise to sunset. Is it a constant flow of water all day? I was told by my local hydro grow store that the plant need time to breath. We have ours running for every 15 min out of the hour during the summer days. Maybe your tomatoes are [...]

Rama commented on the blog post Total newbie here – how can I make a fully suspended variant of the V2 window farm? 11 months, 2 weeks ago · View
This is my 2 tear window farm, it hangs from hooks so you can adjust the height for your cats, I recommend planting something in the bottom that they will hate or maybe even planting cat grass so they will have their own plants and not bother your other herbs and veggies. Link to video [...]

Hey guys. So I got my plants at my local nursery. They were just little pups when I got them, washed the dirt off the roots and transplanted them into the clay in the net cups. I’m not sure what kind of tomatoes they are, it just said good for planters, I’m thinking a patio [...]

Beautiful Windowfarms: 11 months, 3 weeks ago · ViewI completely agree that the farms bring an artistic touch to your home. I had that in mind when I created my new farm, used containers that had more of a design element to it. Here is a link to a video of my farm if you want to check it out. http://youtu.be/lvDIZaK9GmI

My window farm is doing so well! The plants have taken over my window. I did a rough count and had 40 tomatoes growing! Check out my video below.

I had this problem too. How big is your reservior? The bigger and taller your tank is the more water presure you will get in your tubes and you will get good lift. It is very important that the tubes are straight up, any bends/curves will create resistance. Also the size of your tubes will make a difference. If you chack out some of my post I made a diagram of how mine is set up. I have got about 7ft of lift. Hope that helps, Rama
In reply to - damian started the forum topic Teething problems with airlift system in the group For Beginners : Hi peeps – built my first system using sliced up wine bottles hung inside a 3foot cabinet. Basically I’m having problems with the airlift, got two needles coming out of a 3w pump, into one tube, they take the water (or bubbles of [...] · View -

Thanks, we run the pump for 15 min every hour during the day and 15 min every two hours at night. The bottles are from hummingbird feeders we bought at the dollar store, cut them up and painted them.

What a great idea! I can’t wait to see photos once you have got all the plants in, it look stylish. I think I will be adding additional wires for support and then cutting off the tops of the bottles. I like the idea of more room for the plants. I would like to recommend the air lift system. People say it makes noise, but mine is whisper quiet. You can stand next to it and not know it’s on. I think it’s all about how you set it up. The only bad part is you have to have the tube going up as vertical as you can so the reservoir will have to be right under your farm. Check out the link bellow. I put together a nice diagram on how we set up our airlift system, hope it helps!

In reply to - Vedette posted an update: So finally after 2.5 months, I got this baby started. I drilled 3 evenly spaced holes in each funnel and hung them with ’S’ hooks to the wire knots. The knots are adjustable so I can change the height of the plants pretty easily if needed. It was all super simple. (in [...] · View -

I have a very nice window farm. I built it with two holes on either side of the bottle to allow 2 plants to grow out each side. This has been working very well and my plants are taking over my window, yay! As I was trimming some dead leaves I started wondering, why have holes [...] -

Thank you, The peppers just grew up like this, not a lot of leaves around the lower parts. The fertilizer I’m using looks peach red, it turns that brownish color after it circulates through the system a bit. I washed the clay pellets before I used them, but I think I still get some clay [...]

New plants in the farm! So we had a little problem. Our strawberries died. I’m not sure what happened, but we could never make them happy. So after changing out the old plants with new ones and doing some changes, everything is growing well. We are growing mint, peppers, and nasturtiums. Check out our last posting [...] -

Trygve, Removing the plant from the pellets will depend on the plant. I grew peas in two containers and the roots were so thick and tangled that after the pea harvest when I removed them I had to cut them out with a knife. Strawberries on the other hand came out with just a little [...]
