Thank you Balazs. My son came today to celebrate his 50th birthday (!!) and helped me trouble-shoot the system. Thanks to your illustration, we got both columns working. Such subtle things make such a big difference. Yeah! Have nasturtiums, pea pods and basil growing so far.

Thanks for the help. Submergence was never explained. I thought it meant the nutrient line had have a loop below the discharge point from reservoir – and this was the “submergence” level. Didn’t realize about the location of the T connection and its importance in the “submergence” equation. Will try again.
finding the sweet spot for the t-joint can take a little time.
