I am working on plans to a floor model with an air lift system. I plan on building it after I get paid this month. Perhaps I can send you the plans.

i have a cucumber is a deep well system right now. We are using bush typesa and self polinating greehouse types. The question i have is how often did you change your soultion and what were the symptoms of the die out. Sounds like a salt build up.

rule of thumb on roots (in ground) there has to be the same mass under as over. in hydro I see its about 2/3 under as over. so if your doing herbs then you can say if you have a root ball in the bottle the plant will optimally be about 1/3 again as large [...]

Also if you have a chance, get an aphid trap. its a yellow card with a sticky substance on it, you can usually get them from garden suppliers. you would be surprised how quickly they set in. Even in a steril greenhouse.

strawberry are very touchy in a hydro system (I am a hydro farmer) they get a black sludge on the roots, which can look bad but I have had some success. I have had some luck sanitizing the system, by periodically (between changing nurtients) with runing plain water and hydrogen peroxid (1-2 tablespoons per gallon) [...]
