The donate button is here: http://www.windowfarms.org :)

Here are the official how-to guides for building your windowfarm – ours is using the same materials and plan as the kits they are offering (which is the airlift system): http://our.windowfarms.org/tag/officialhow-tos/

Let me know if you have any questions as you get going!

Thumbnail Last weekend (May 22-23), my team of San Francisco Bay Area WindowFarmers exhibited a 10-column set of WindowFarms at the 5th annual Maker Faire in San Mateo. Maker Faire brings together science, art, craft and engineering plus music in a fun, energized, and exciting public forum. The aim is to inspire people of all ages to roll [...]

This is great! I had a lot of people at Maker Faire asking how to make their own nutrient solution. I bet they would be really into this. Will definitely forward them to this post.

We are going to be making new WindowFarms from Britta’s latest design, and adapting it to the materials available out here in the Bay Area, and in the process helping make new design templates that will be available on the website for others. None of us in the group (there are 4-5 right now that are going to be working on the Maker Faire exhibit) have made WindowFarms yet – so yes, we are all newbies, and will be figuring stuff out as we go, though we’ve got Britta and some others to help us work with the new design.

Hey everyone – the San Francisco group somehow disappeared, so I made this one. I am leading a WindowFarm make session in the next few weeks for WindowFarmers wanting to exhibit at Maker Faire at the end of May, 2010. We have a 10×10 exhibit space to work with, and I’d like to have 1-3 walls of window farms exhibited there! Let me know if you are interested!

Do you already have a window farm setup, or are you just starting too?

    Hey Bay Area Window-Farmers!
I am working on our Maker Faire application, so let me know if you want to be involved in the installation! My plan is to organize a group make-session where we can get together and create window farms using the newest design techniques sometime in the next several weeks before Maker Faire (in May). Shoot me a note or reply to this thread to let me know if you are interested. The make session will likely take place at my apartment in the Stanford area.

Hey Michael, that would be great! Definitely let me know how it goes and I’d love to see the plans you come up with for the free-standing floor model, as we’ll definitely be needing them for the Maker Faire installation!

All you have to do is go to ”My Blogs” in the menu bar at the top of the page, hover over ”our.windowfarms.org” thgen you’ll see the option ”New Post”. There you have it!

I am working on plans to a floor model with an air lift system. I plan on building it after I get paid this month. Perhaps I can send you the plans.
