We moved to a different apartment in Gresham and I will be farming a community garden instead. Out kitties won’t leave the Window Farm alone. However I am going to continue looking for a location where I can put one up. It is such a great idea. CityBounty.org has a forum now and I want to invite people from here to come share your gardening wisdom. If you live in or near Portland Oregon especially.

Yes it will be outside. I am planning to cover the entire patio with plastic at least for the winter so it will be a little bit like a greenhouse. Wind is something I hadn’t thought about. Thanks for that input. As far as filtration I am concerned about the balance of plants to fish. [...]

Aquaponic Window Farms: 1 year, 9 months ago · ViewMight be possible, but I wouldn’t risk your Fiji LiveRock to try it and find out. Is there a way you could set up a small tank with some less expensive guinea pig fish? There are so many variables with saltwater aquariums I have never even wanted to try and keep one. They are expensive [...]

Aquaponic Window Farms: 1 year, 9 months ago · ViewHi I am excited about Window farming and also about Aquaponics though I haven’t actually done any of either. I am looking forward to a new apartment soon hopefully with a south window that I can use for a first try system. It just seems like such a perfect balanced system and I love the recycle principle in it instead of using a nutrient fluid that I would have to buy.
Seems there are those who think I should start with a basic hydroponics system. Is it possible to just go right into aquaponics? I would rather not set up something different from what I want to have in the end.
