you could fill the bottle with water and freeze it solid. then, drill your hole – allow the water to melt out. there is a link to a video showing this. was on the front page here, i guess the spammers knocked it off the front page.

tilapia have been grown with great success by others using aquaponics. they do grow to an awesome size as a food fish for human consumption – not pets.
In reply to - martin started the forum topic species list in the group Aquaponic Window Farms : hey there. i think we should create a list/database of species usable in small scale indoor aquaponics, as well as anecdotal experience keeping them. please post them here, fish – shrimp/prawns – crayfish, mussels, no matter what. what should be included is the level of [...] · View -

explains it. if your using pottery that is sealed or glazed on the inside – you wont have to wrry about the white powder (salts).

try vermiculture , compost tea, natural nutrients are always available somewhere.
In reply to - tedi posted an update in the group For Beginners: Roots not expanded. We have tried adding different plants but once in the WindowFarms bottles, the roots are never expanded and keep condensed in a very short space as they were when being growing up. the biggest thing i found is this, in Edmonton there are three hydroponics stores. now with this information i came to the conclusion that whatever they charge is the going price. online ? perhaps, but would be better if there were more local resources. hydroponics isn’t that big a thing yet. operative word being YET.
