Thanks for the update. We’ve got two kinds of peppers, three kinds of tomatoes, pole beans, asian greens, and tons of herbs. Looking forward to that Windowfarm!

Piedmont Triad, North Carolina: 3 months, 2 weeks ago · ViewWe just ordered our hydroponic windowfarm and started seedlings (peppers, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, assorted herbs, etc.) to be ready when it arrives. I’d love to grow some sweet strawberries, but that may be a bit ambitious for a first crop. I’m researching nutrient solutions (prepared and DIY) while waiting for the windowfarm to arrive and [...]

Wait, wait! Don’t plant those seeds, Kath!
We ran into a delay on one of the components and we are going to be late shipping the Windowfarms. I’m working with the manufacturer of the part and the assembly plant to establish a new ship date, but I’m sure we are not going to get them out this month. I think it is going to be June, but I should know the date this week for sure and I’m going to notify you all by email then.
Ok. You already planted your seeds. Bummer, but not necessarily a total waste. Can you transfer the best ones into some soil? You can transfer them back from soil into the windowfarm later.
Which kinds have germinated? Thanks for the update. We’ve got two kinds of peppers, three kinds of tomatoes, pole beans, asian greens, and tons of herbs. Looking forward to that Windowfarm!
May I ask which component ran amiss during production? I hope we get an update soon on the shipping date of the window farms, but this is the exact reason I didn’t order a second Windowfarm yet, I wanted to wait and see what happened with the release date. Figures that I was right, there would be a delay. I still look forward to the release of the Windowfarm and once they start shipping I’ll be sure to order a second one!

I recently picked up a 2011 edition of Urban Farm Magazine (July/August 2011) and read about the Windowfarms Project. I was really impressed with the concept and all the work done over the last many months by Britta Riley and the R & D-I-Y’ers. The open source community is remarkable and certainly a model for [...]
