From what I’ve read, a quarter of an hour every hour during daylight, then a quarter of an hour every two hours during the night is sufficient (as you will get less evaporation in the evening).

But… its all going to be dependant on the size of your system, how effective your pump system is and also what the needs of your plants are going to be.

Every persons window farm is its own unique ecosystem…. you’ll need to get started and fine tune the needs or yours.

I’m just starting out, and I was wondering a couple of things: 1) if my window farm only needs to run 15 minutes every hour, how do I set a timer to do that? Feasibly, I don’t think any of us are around all day to turn it on and off, and certainly during the night it would be worse, so there must be some kind of system for automating it, right? Where can I get something like that?

and 2) does anyone run their farm 24-7? Would that lead to some kind of bad-ness?
