@ Emery Premeaux: dont keep the tanks in yout closet! put those to good use! :) @samenrahmen: I have glass windows (always opened) with screens. I live in san diego, ca and I’m sure some light gets filtered out. @snjmom / Trygve Henriksen / samenrahmen : I chose Koi for the decorative properties. This set up is [...]

    Hardwarejunkie: Its almost there! :)

Samenrahmen: I updated the link so that it is now public. However, many pictures are above. Fly screen? …for the window? If I took it off, and have them grow out the window, it would be very hard to pick my tomatoes! I live on the 2nd story.

Check out: http://our.windowfarms.org/2010/08/12/aquaponic-window-farm/ one reason to how tall my tomatoes are is that I have a T5 florescent light on my seedlings which are sitting to the left of my farm. I also have a turtle tank with a turtle heat lamp on it sitting to the right of my farm. Due to the 18/6 [...]

I decided this time around to build an aquaponic window farm. I wanted to put my reservoir to good use, and also had an extra fish tank around. I decided to use the Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) river system (FYI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutrient_film_technique) to accomplish this. This system has so many advantages! One pump (blue hose) pumps [...]

yes, I use at the same time, but note how often. The Seaweed Foliar Spray by Nitrozyme should only be sprayed on weekly during veg, (bi-monthly for Aquaponics). The Great White Mycorrhizae by Plant Success should ONLY BE USED ONCE or TWICE per HARVEST. =)

After your seedlings are planted in a hydroton basket (*1) (I recommend hydroton pebbles because they can be re-used many times, they are pH neutral, and releases no nutrients into the equation) When water is ready and dechlorinated ( http://our.windowfarms.org/2010/03/23/the-importance-of-water/) mix in the following Base Nutrients: *) Maxsea 16-16-16 all in one powder ~A great product [...]

What Sugar Peak Nutrient were you looking for exactly? Was it SUGAR PEAK VEGETATIVE, SUGAR PEAK FLOWERING , SUGAR PEAK GRAND FINALE, SUGAR PEAK BRIXIMUS MAXIMUS – CONCENTRATE ? there are many similar products out there on the market. honestly I have never used Sugar Peaks, but if you are looking for a sweetener (comparable to the SUGAR PEAK FLOWERING) I would recommend FloraNectar from General Hydroponics. http://www.generalhydroponics.com/genhydro_US/floranectar.html

Where are you from? I would suggest going into your local hydroponic store to keep cost down and your wait time non existent. keep in mind joining the my nutrient basic to advanced group and share your experiences! =)

Johan, A great “all in one” solution for all plant stages is Maxsea 16-16-16. (http://www.highcountrygardens.com/catalog/product/H0042/ <– cheapest priced I've seen). It is a blend of quality North Atlantic seaweed, quick acting, liquid soluble nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and other micro-nutrients; Maxsea promotes healthy root systems, vibrant plants and quality blossoms. Dissolves quickly and completely for convenient [...]

I 100% recommend seeds of change. when germinating indoors in Jiffy plugs( (http://www.growell.co.uk/p/3879/Jiffy-Propagating-Plugs.html) under a T-5 florescent light (http://www.hydrofarm.com/pb_detail.php?itemid=7662) my plants sprout quicker then the time frame on the package. The best place to find SEEDS OF CHANGE cheaper is through your local hydroponic store. My boyfriend is a manager at San Diego Hydroponics and [...]
