Haha! @HardwareJunkie Nothing escapes you, my friend! I love it! Yes, you discovered one of the weaknesses of our early prototype! We have changed the design since then. It looks basically the same but the wire rack and the planters have a more secure relationship!

@hardwarejunkie great to meet you here. If you have any useful information about windowfarming, I am just getting started and looking to network, share information. I look forward to seeing your posts.

Thanks @hardwarejunkie. The lights are farther than they look in the pictures, they’re a good 35cm or so away. But you’re right, and I’ll move the lights back if I see the plants growing towards them.

@hardwarejunkie Oh good. You can grow under halogen or incandescent, but there are much better options. i remember a book I read many years ago, in some university library, the book was published a long time ago. It was clear that florescents hadn’t been around for all that long and mercury vapor (MV) was a brand [...]

@hardwarejunkie Halogen?!?! As HWJ said; LED’s are really not a great option yet. Even if you make a DIY one, the cost will be very high for a big enough set up to grow one mature plant. The basic WF design is a simple way of using light from a window. If your growing from a [...]

@hardwarejunkie yes I have a spare shower in my basement. It’s nice because when I water the extra just goes down the drain hehe. Its great too because I just close the shower curtain and it keeps it humid in there. I’ve got a temp/humidity gauge and I just monitor it so that it doesn’t get [...]

@hardwarejunkie I’ll fix that for you… shoot me an e-mail or message if that happens again and I’ll try to fix it for you. @adodd87f I would agree with HJ on the light situation, standard fluorescents aren’t intense enough for growing under, the amount of light put out is small, and spreading that over the immense surface [...]

Haha! Yes! It is a love/hate relationship with the failures.
I have a few four letter words stored up for all of the frankenstein systems at the windowfarms shop.
But, all of your many failures are why we all <3 you and why you are such a valuable asset to the community though, @HardwareJunkie.

@hardwarejunkie, Just wondering. The piece that the bottle screws into, is that just the bottle top glued into a pipe or did you find a fitting the 2-litter bottle can screw into?
