Solar powered windowfarms: 6 days, 16 hours ago · ViewI just built a variant on a windowfarm in my very wide (7’) south facing window. It is more horizontal than vertical, using vinyl window gutters as troughs to hold plants in net pots, and is manually powered (I live on a farm, someone’s here anyway so refilling the reservoir by hand is no trouble). Just getting started, but so far there’s no drips where there shouldn’t be, there are drips where there should be, and there are 3 seedlings getting their roots wet, while other seedlings sprout in rockwool cubes. Post has been put up with pictures. http://our.windowfarms.org/?p=16540

Window Farmers: 1 week, 4 days ago · View
Hello Everyone, I am new to this site and have built my window farm from the 3.0 instructions with some alterations due to some materials being very hard to find here in Israel and also some improvements. I made a video:
http://youtu.be/kOQVhn4RzewI started with pea seeds in 3, 1.5 liter bottles and one reservoir bottle with 4 seeds in each bottle and they all grew quite fast on only water and are now around 8 cm in height (except one seed which I removed from the top bottle and the other two in the same bottle are about half the size as the forth one, but in the other bottles all four are uniform in size). It looks a bit crowded in there though and I was wondering wether or not to remove some from each bottle?
Also I had trouble finding any place with hydroponics equipment and nutrients so I got a liquid fertilizer for herbs and vegetables instead with instructions on applying to plants in soil.
It says on the bottle that it contains:
N – General Nitrogen – 3.5%
P – P2O5 – 1.5%
K- K2O – 3%
Iron – Fe – 2%
contains microelements (whatever that means)
Is this usable? how much of this should I add?
Thanks
