Please help, we are so close and want to get the plants ASAP but we dont want to hurt them, so we need to sort this one out!

We´ve finally finish buiding our windowfarm, and it was not easy. We were´nt able to find most of the materials sugested so we found replacementes for many of them, but it took a lot of effort. We still have one issue, and it is that the water uplift only works with a little help from gravity. this is what i mean. everytime the pump is plugged in (starts up), we need to take out the tube from the top bottle and bring it close to the ground so the water starts pumping, then we put it back on its place, and it keeps working great. this is an issue because we obviousl dont want to drawn the plants, or dry them out, but the timer option is kind of useless if we have to do this every time..

Any ideas why this is happening?

Here are the specifics of our windowfarm.
Two columns, 3 bottles tall plus the reservoir for each column.
RESUN AC-9903 6W. 4.5 litres per min. Double adjustable outlets (air pump)
We use the option 2 for the uplift, using the needle inside the bottle hooked to the tube leaving just a small hole for the water to go up (hole is about 1/8” .)
