Does anyone have any advice on what plants grow best / are easiest to grow in the windowfarm?  I have tried a variety of seedlings and the only ones that have survived thus far are the lettuce and the chives.  Everything else (parsley, peas, peppers, catnip) has gotten droopy and died about 3 days after [...]

Are the nutrients necessary?  I’m just curious if anyone knows what would happen if you ran the system with just water.

Are the nutrient additives that came with my Windowfarm kit harmful if my cats happen to consume them in diluted form?  They haven’t been interested in my new farm yet, but before I add the nutrients, I just want to make sure that I’m not going to poison my kitties, if they do become interested! I’ve noticed several posts from gardeners who mention “declorinating” their water before adding it to the farm … Is this generally recommended?  If so, what is the process?

I just built my first windowfarm over the weekend and am curious whether people have had better luck using plants that they have started from seed or just buying plants that have already been started.
