Here we are at 5 months since building my window farm and want to give a general update. Strawberries are growing well and have been flowering and fruiting. The plants are growing in rockwell cubes and lately I have the airpump timer running three times a day for about 3hours at a time. The rockwool holds alot [...] -
I am not using a petco pump and my air pump design is not per their design, but when I was researching them, I ran into the local pet store and wrote the specification down off the boxes since it was imposible to find online. The important specifications when comparing models will be the air flow. So here are the petco’s data.
9901 – 1.8l/m, 9902 – 4l/m, 9903 – 4.5l/m, 9904 – 9l/m
Review this http://our.windowfarms.org/2010/04/11/alternate-air-pump-performance-data/ if you like math.In reply to - Trygve Henriksen posted an update:I think I need a better pump than the one I have, but… the Petco 9904 is a USA model, and trying to run it on 220V/50Hz instead of 120V/60Hz is probably not a good idea… (Even if it were to survive the higher voltage, the 50Hz would mean it would be running [...] · View -

I did some digging around again and I wonder if it is as simple as this. I wonder if you are set as a “contributor”. One sentance on this page says “A contributor does not have the ability to upload files/images”. I think I remeber this original post of yours being stuck in the post [...]

I had started this thread to help another user out and the issue sounds the same. I do not know if there was ever any resolution to the issue. Maybe someone will see this and find an answer.

I have been using David’s Grow as well. They have a store in Rosell, IL that I had gone to. I had bought a kind of beginners hydroponic kit and beside the Base and Grow, it has stuff called Bloom, Fulvic Acid, Root Roids and Soluble Silicate. In the chart, I have been feeding mine [...]

It’s been awhile, but I just wanted to comment on your algae comment. My system has been running well for 3 months now and I haven’t done anything about the algae growing in the tubes in that time. My resevoir is covered so I get nothing there, but I have clear tubing for the main [...]

The simple 3 level window farm unit using a 4 watt air pump that I have will take 0.096KWH per day (4/1000*24) or 35KWH per year. On average, I pay $0.08 per KWH so that’s $2.80 per year. This assumes the pump runs 24hours a day everyday. I run mine 6 hours out of the day so that’s $0.70 per year. Most people waste way more than that every year on misc stuff left plugged in around the house. If you add bigger pumps, lights or fans it goes up from there of course, but the math is the same if you know the watts.

I have been researching air lift pumps and your design is a variation on what I proposed. http://our.windowfarms.org/2010/04/11/alternate-air-pump-performance-data/ So, I have a few questions. How did you come to have 2 tees? Does it increase the flow or height compared to 1? Is that a dual output air pump with each output line going to [...]
The pump has two outlets, so I have 2 tees. The system will have to run without maintanance for several days in a row, so I went for a low-pressure solution. I have not compared this to the alternate solution of joining the airflow before sending it into the Airlift tube.
The pump has a flow rate of 400 Liters/Hour. Technical details about the pressure were not provided.

Those look tasty from here. What type of lettuce is that? Did you harvest the entire plant or did you pick a bunch of leaves and let the plant continue to grow?

Those look really nice. I do peas as well outside and they climb a good 6ft and they will flower mostly on the upper half. How many plants are growing in each pot?

Wow, are you saying that the add new post looks like the picture above, but that the “Add media” and the three icons to the right are not showing up? This might be browser related and I would clear your cache and cookies. Maybe things in the cache and cookies are related to your old [...]

Tony commented on the blog post Web Site Usage – Comment Moderation 4 months, 2 weeks ago · View
I do not think it is a browser issue. My guess is that there is a problem with your user account. The thing I noticed was when you look under your account it shows “Blogs(0)” and under it says “Sorry there were no blogs found”. If you look at any other member, it will say [...]

Hey everyone… One thing I have learned about the site is that everyones comments are normally approved, but sometimes they get stuck in “Moderation” which means they are waiting to be manually approved. Blogs have a tough time with spam and it’s just trying to filter it out. However, if you are the original author of a [...]I’ve submitted a post (not a comment) that is currently pending, but can’t find a way to approve it myself. Is there a moderator I can contact? My pages don’t look like your screenshots here, and I don’t seem to have the same options to approve so the post is stuck in limbo for now. Thanks for your help, as always!

Just to follow up with some more details that I found. It does not seem like “jodeees” account is associated with the blog. When you look at her blogs it shows blog(0) and the statement below it says “Sorry there are no blogs found”. If you look at any other user, it shows blog(1) with [...]

Thanks for pointing this out. At first I thought it was a bug. I made this post the same as alll my others. The publish visibility is set “Public”. I experimented and tried to set it to private and then back to public to see if it would reset, but that did not help. Then [...]

Oh, that sucks. I wish I could help more, but I don’t work for the WF folks and this sounds like some type of bug. The site is a little buggy sometimes and they are working on the next version. I dropped a note in the group “Wordpress/BuddyPress Programmers Needed for Version 2″ and maybe [...]

I tried to help “jodeees” out in creating a post, but the problem is deaper than what I thought. It’s maybe a login or browser type issue. Take a look at her comment to my post. http://our.windowfarms.org/2010/04/27/web-site-usage-new-post-wpicture/
So, is this a good place to report bugs?
