I was wondering if anyone has tried bringing window farms into literature classrooms rather than just science-oriented classrooms. Hello. I have not yet started building, but have applied for funding at my London American school (The American School in London). My intention is to try to do it myself first, and then attempt to initiate a middle school elective to teach basic gardening, botany, and sustainability concepts. The course would probably begin in January, and run until June. After making the columns, student would carry out maintenance, document inputs and yields, and participate in the research undertaken in this community. I am very excited, and hope my dabbling is successful.

One issue I am concerned with is the light available to my partially-shaded SE-facing windows. I am also curious to discover whether or not young teens will be able to sustain interest in a project with little immediate gratification.
