With an aquaponic setup I have been very slow in putting extra nutrients in. My plants show a definite iron deficiency in their leaves and my local choices for nutrients is slim. I am finally making a trip over 100 miles to get seaweed to add to the molasses and Fish Emulsion Fertilizer which I finally found locally, and plan to use those when I have a better grasp of putting them together. I’ve been very busy doing the mechanical things to make a good system and I am finally keeping a journal so I can remember the mistakes I make. Many people the world over have been so good with suggestions and help. I wish this site was used more by windowfarmers. I have not understood the nutrient end of aquaponics real well and am so green at this I cry for information. I’ll put my experience on when I can get it worked out better. Anyone fertilize using hydrogen gas? Have been researching biofuels and fossil fuels and scientific papers on nitrogen fixation. Found it interesting that everyone focuses on nitrogen part of ammonium molecule when it is only 1 part nitrogen to 4 parts hydrogen. Also the energy value of fuels (and fertilizers) is in the hydrogen and carbon, not in the nitrogen.
