Mobile Farming
Public Group active 3 weeks, 1 day agoThis is a group dedicated to the pursuit of growing plants in vehicles. It may seem unorthodox, but if we can grow plants in apartments, why not in cars!

Mobile Farming: 5 months, 1 week ago · ViewI spend a lot of time on the road in a Motor Home or parked on our property in Florissant, CO. I may try to put a Windowfarm on the dashboard if I can figure it out. Anybody put one in an RV yet?

Mobile Farming: 1 year, 4 months ago · ViewWell, bad news. I had everything going great, then a couple of fronts and a week of below freezing temps did a number on several plants. All of my squash, one pepper, and nearly my rosemary all died at once. One pepper is still (barely) alive, and my greens had to be removed because they obscured my vision. I still want to research a few different plants while it is fairly cool, but I may have to wait until after february is over before I put any new plants out. If anyone has some ideas, I am more than willing to hear them.

Mobile Farming: 1 year, 6 months ago · ViewWell, it has been a couple of weeks, and the peppers are doing great! I have two self-watering pots in my cup holders, and have been keeping the car in the bright sun as much as I can. The moisture and temperature are tricky to control, but my peppers are VERY happy. These were both stunted, sickly looking peppers I started in february. Now they actually have fruit forming! Look forward to some pics later on this week. Happy thanksgiving guys!

Mobile Farming: 1 year, 6 months ago · ViewCame across this link about Truck Farming you guys might be interested in
That is pretty much the idea I have. If you never hit highway speed, you can definitely grow plants in a truck bed. Once you come up to about 50mph, though, the plants are going to start suffering. Plus, not everyone has a truck. The bed makes it easy to plant, but what about the interior of a car? The exterior? I figure most people in an urban environment have cars. Can we actually use the empty space in a car to grow veggies and other plants, and still seat people, groceries, and who knows what else! Definitely good to see someone succeeding with some method. Thanks for the post!
This would probably have more success in certain areas than others. Right now we’re approaching winter season and plants are usually dormant this time of year.
