Howdy! I just learned about windowfarms.org tonight while chatting with a friend who’s building one. I thought it would be perfect for utilizing the front window in our motor home. My wife and I are full time RVers, and I would like to build her a place to garden. She’s always growing something.

The challenge I start with is judging the microclimate. Ours changes. We are in Loveland, CO right now, but we are going to be in Portland, OR for May – July, Nevada for Aug – Sept, Yellowstone after that, then Colorado again, and then Texas. That’s just the general plan that may happen that way or not with other things in between. So, I’m kinda stuck at the first step.

Now to browse for ideas!

I spend a lot of time on the road in a Motor Home or parked on our property in Florissant, CO. I may try to put a Windowfarm on the dashboard if I can figure it out. Anybody put one in an RV yet?

Well, bad news. I had everything going great, then a couple of fronts and a week of below freezing temps did a number on several plants. All of my squash, one pepper, and nearly my rosemary all died at once. One pepper is still (barely) alive, and my greens had to be removed because they obscured my vision. I still want to research a few different plants while it is fairly cool, but I may have to wait until after february is over before I put any new plants out. If anyone has some ideas, I am more than willing to hear them.
