Windowfarm Kits-What’s New?

Public Group active 3 months, 2 weeks ago

Windowfarms has entered a new phase with the introduction of One Column, Two Column & Four Column Kits. The kits are the product of the work and ingenuity of the R & D-I-Y’ers who came before us. Now it’s our turn to join them and make our own contributions to the open source community.

Looking forward to getting the kit. Busy trying to decide on the window placement–I have new seeds, am busy looking at some of the vegetarian-friendly nutrients I already have for other plants. I’ve already planted some dirt-potted arugula, cilantro and other herbs–am interested in seeing how the growth patterns will compare. I have lots of seeds including a kind of Chinese kale (gai lohn) which I’m really eager to try out.–also some hot peppers and greens.

What are you doing to prepare for the arrival of your WIndowfarm kit? I’m hoping to start out growing lettuce, spinach, herbs, cherry tomatoes, hot peppers, and maybe even some strawberries. Went ahead and planted seeds for the herbs and veggies today.

Wait, wait! Don’t plant those seeds, Kath!
We ran into a delay on one of the components and we are going to be late shipping the Windowfarms. I’m working with the manufacturer of the part and the assembly plant to establish a new ship date, but I’m sure we are not going to get them out this month. I think it is going to be June, but I should know the date this week for sure and I’m going to notify you all by email then.
Ok. You already planted your seeds. Bummer, but not necessarily a total waste. Can you transfer the best ones into some soil? You can transfer them back from soil into the windowfarm later.
      Which kinds have germinated?

Thanks for the update. We’ve got two kinds of peppers, three kinds of tomatoes, pole beans, asian greens, and tons of herbs. Looking forward to that Windowfarm!

May I ask which component ran amiss during production? I hope we get an update soon on the shipping date of the window farms, but this is the exact reason I didn’t order a second Windowfarm yet, I wanted to wait and see what happened with the release date. Figures that I was right, there would be a delay. I still look forward to the release of the Windowfarm and once they start shipping I’ll be sure to order a second one!
