Biofuel powered Window farm? Anyone want to try?
Public Group active 1 month, 1 week agoI made a pump that uses CO2 from yeast fermentation or lactic acid fermentation to pump water. I do not know how good it can be but it does work.
This would be the quietest window farm of all and you can drink your beer or cider after it has fueled your windowfarm for 5 or 6 days of water pumping!
I have a video of the working pump at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-y1p2pZaYTM It is made from a pop bottle, and energy drink bottle, some bungs and tubes.

Biofuel powered Window farm? Anyone want to try?: 5 months ago · ViewI think this is could be a very good idea!
@Louise, the water does not need to be oxygenated, and that’s mostly because plants themselves don’t actually take in oxygen, they get it from the CO2 that they break down.( Or so I am told by my personal biologist
. )However, yeast does use oxygen so, if we mean to run on the yeast’s CO2 for long periods of time, we’ll have to find a way to insert fresh air in the system.
Further more, I am told that yeast has a very narrow range of temperatures ( between 20 and 25°C = 68 to 77 F) in which it can live. I realize it’s not a big problem for indoor farms but we might wanna look into that. Maybe there are stronger types or maybe some produce more CO2 than others… I don’t know… It would be very nice to have a biologist around to get an idea from where to begin! So, anyone’s up for it? -
