Our New Class for Window Farming in Seoul

8:52 am in Being a good member of this community, Education, Getting Started, International, Meetings, posts with pitcures! by KYUNGHEE RHEE

Today, I met a group of people in my class. I just opened a class in which I teach about city farming.
It is an open class for free and we call it OPEN UNIVERSITY WITH WISDOM.
I introduced the window farming ideas and everybody really were interested.
We tried to make the hanging bottles for plants.
We shared many ideas for the project.

Any growers from Denmark

11:10 am in International, Meetings by Rune Hemmingsen

Hi

After reading a danish article about your ideas about homegrown veges in the big city, I’ve decided to try it out at my dorm here in north of Copenhagen, Denmark.

I was wondering if there is any other Danish people in this forum, perhaps we can exchange ideas, find some cheap materials in the danish market.

I created a group for Victoria BC. Please Join if you are from Victoria..

I did a check on google and at least 5 windowfarmers came up in the Victoria area.

It is kinda silly that we are joining the Vancouver group when it is a day trip and ferry trip away.  Please Join this group (if you live in the area) so that we can get some synergy going.

Also, if you know of other windowfarmers in the area, get them to join too.

Thanks

Brian.

In the research phase

12:20 pm in Getting Started, made from scratch (without a kit), Meetings, pumps, questions, Seeking Advice by Alexander Tome

Hey guys!

So I’m in research phase for building my WindowFarm after I saw Britta’s TED talk and I have to admit that I have a ridiculous amount of information swirling around in my head and it’s starting to overwhelm me. I’ve read dozens of articles on here and there are still a few things unclear to me.

Basically, I was hoping I could do a site visit to someone that has an established WF somewhere near my neighborhood (Clinton Hill, Brooklyn) so I can see it in action and get a good visual of all the working parts in person. Would anybody be willing to let me in to see theirs?

I’m thinking of doing a set up similar to Jenna Spevack’s (seen here: http://our.windowfarms.org/2010/05/05/plastic-free-window-farm/) though I may have to cut corners on the no plastic idea. I’m also trying to start off with three or four columns in my GINORMOUS 7.5′ x 8′ living room window. I know that’s pretty ambitious, since it’s my first aeroponic system, but I think the process is pretty straight forward, and I’d rather just get it all done, rather than build the first and then have to scale up later. My research seems to indicate that I should have two separate air lift pump systems so that I have enough lift. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance for all your help and I can’t wait to be eating my very own pak choy!

Window Farms and 350.org on 10/10/10

2:03 pm in Education, environmental impact, Getting Started, International, Meetings, Other Cool Urban Ag. Stuff, Uncategorized, Windowfarms Project News by Emery Premeaux

Hi all!

I would like to encourage everyone in the windowfarm community to consider hosting an action party on 10/10/2010 for 350.org!

350.org is an international community effort to encourage positive climate change initiatives in governments all around the world.

10/10 is the chosen date to celebrate success thus far, and to educate others on the importance of taking action.

10/10 is also a perfect opportunity to host a Window Farm class!!!

Share your knowledge, help others get their farm started, re-use all those PET bottles!
