Greetings Everyone!
I am an education coordinator working with a group of awesome teens that are constructing the Version 2.0 airlift system window-farm. We have an aquarium pump suitable for a 13-gallon tank with just one valve. The pump we are using is from Petco (Link provided for the visual) http://www.petco.com/product/119290/Petco-Air-Pump-for-Freshwater-And-Marine-Aquariums.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch.
Will this pump work for the 2.0 airlift version? Should we return the pumps and get two valve aquarium pumps?
We will finish constructing our 2.0 airlift system window-farm this weekend. We are having a blast learning and constructing the window-farms, in addition to contributing our discoveries through the window-farm.org forum. Here are a few pics of the initial setup. I will post our complete setup soon.

Hi Tanita, I have a bunch of videos about using one valve to run several airlift, I don’t windowfarm but I currently have 3 continuously running airlifts from one valve. This comes off a 60 litre per hour bubble pump that is rated at 3.5 watts http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL17DC16567E0712FA Video’s 11 to 15 are about this latest simple one valve system. It is fun and it should work great for you. My bubble pump is 100 ft away from my system too! Still works really well.

Thanks Brian. I will keep you posted on the outcome. The You-tube video 11 looks promising.
Yes, Tanita, please test that one! Also the current number 15 is probably worth looking at. Especially note that new tubing has some sort of shine or sheen or perhaps a coating from the manufacturing process on it and it stays for 3 or 4 days and does not give representative results until after it is “broken in”. I put dirty mucky water through new tubing now just to get it dirty quick! The tubing sizes that give best results are 1/4 inch internal diameter and 3/16 inch internal diameter. If you have the height available, you could go for the “world record” in my video number 3. I think the current record is 18 ft. high pumping with 2 ft of submergence. Why not beat it? Brian
Tanita, I am going to be a real pain and ask you to try get the kids to adapt the flip flop too! All you have to do to get that to work to water a window farm is instead of a V shape, find something with a wide U shape. Hot glue the ends, attach it just like my flip flop and drip water in it until it flips. Just drill holes in the thing in the right place so the water comes out into your columns not on the floor! Here is the playlist for the flip flop. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkzXlmAwZTZcZ1F_EdWJGmoCyPm6A9Gne&feature=view_all If you can do it with the flipflop, it means you have another potentially simpler way to split the water flow between 2, 4, or 6 columns!
I use the smallest air pump I could find. It works great.
