I got this design from another window-farms user!! As always, it helps to connect the line to a gang valve so you can adjust the air-flow. Just chop a small hole in the submerged part of the line and pump.

Simple hole-pump design utilizes a small under-water inlet and low-power air-pumping.
Hi
no defined conditions, could work but not probably (and not reliable).
Greetings
JKDF.
i have one that runs quite reliably…
I am pretty sure it will work reliably as long as the hole is on the bottom side of the tube. I think that the submerged tube with the hole would best be more than 1/4 inch in diameter while the rest of the tubing can safely be 1/4 inch.
I basicly use the same system but with a 1-way valve underwater for stability and increased flow
Bram-
Is a 1-way valve the same as a check valve? (Flow only goes in one direction)
Relative to the hole, where do you position the valve?
Best,
