Total newbie here – how can I make a fully suspended variant of the V2 window farm?

I just discovered this site today, I love the idea and I want to give it a try in my apartment. My biggest concern is that I have 2 cats that will eat anything within reach that makes growing plants of any kind very difficult. I figured if I could find a way to keep the window farm off the ground entirely they might ignore it because they cant reach it. My issue is that the V2 instructions appear to be set on the ground and the V3 is far more expensive than I can afford at the moment.
Does anyone know of a good cat proof suspended setup for the V2?
Take a look at something like Jesse’s http://our.windowfarms.org/2012/01/06/my-simple-t-valve-airlift-windowfarm/ or Joha’s http://our.windowfarms.org/2012/05/16/maintenance-mode-of-a-windowfarm-in-vienna/
We have 4 cats and they like to hang out in the window with the WF. You can see 2 of them here. http://our.windowfarms.org/2012/04/15/strawberry-at-over-two-years/ They have not really bothered the plants at all, but I guess it depends on the cat. The only trouble maker is the cat in the forground. She always steals the q-tips I use to pollinate the strawberries.
This is my 2 tear window farm, it hangs from hooks so you can adjust the height for your cats, I recommend planting something in the bottom that they will hate or maybe even planting cat grass so they will have their own plants and not bother your other herbs and veggies. Link to video
