water too acidic?

Hi I live in NYC and just measured the pH of my windowfarm because my pepper plant is drooping… Apparently the water has been becoming increasingly acidic, it clocked in around 6 whereas the tap water is around 6.8! Has anyone else encountered this problem?? All the posts I’ve seen from others concerning pH is in regards to water that is too alkaline or becoming so!
Also, I’m not sure the best way to go about changing the pH to be more neutral. I added tap water as a start but if anyone has solved this particular problem please let me know.
PH of 6 should be fine for peppers and most hydroponics. http://our.windowfarms.org/2012/02/10/plants-table/
I have jalepeno and red peppers and that is where I keep the ph so it must be something else. http://our.windowfarms.org/2012/01/21/jalapeno-at-1-year-and-doing-some-pruning/ Go into some more details related to nutrients, type of water, water schedule, etc and maybe someone else has seen this. Having pictures would help in troubleshooting as well.
i think that most plants need ph below 7 to be able to get nutrients out of the water, so 6 should be ok..
