My planter design prototype
5:34 pm in made from scratch (without a kit), posts with pitcures!, Projects in Process, R&D-I-Y by John Elliott
I designed this based on posts here and then made this prototype, it turned out well IMO. I have been busy with other things so I haven’t gotten any further than this but I plan on making at least a few more 3 bottle strings like this one. These will be painted and all that and I will set net pots in them. I wanted to get the image out so as to get any feedback.

What are the caps on the sides of the bottles to be used for and how are they connected to it?
Those are hinges, they let the bottom and top swivel forwards and back. The “bolts” that hold the two together are the bottle tops. So everything can be rotated, for easier access to the plants. I think this would be helpful for growing plants that will reach out and have to be supported. They are connected threw holes in the plastic, approximately 1″ dia just enough to allow the screw tops of the bottles, that have been cut off, to pass threw the holes and be fastened with the cap.
