What should I grow??
What should I grow and where is the best place to get seeds? I am interested in things for making salads. I have four 3″ net pots to grow stuff in and an additional 5″ net pot. Since I live by myself, I am would rather not grow a head of lettuce or something like that. I would rather have something that keeps growing back after raiding the garden.
I guess my question is. Are there lettuce varieties that grow more leafy where I can take a pair of scissors, snip some off of each grow pot, to make a salad, and the stuff will grow back in a few days? If so, what do you suggest? I also think Cucumbers might be nice.
Any of the leafy lettuces like romaine work great. Check out the ones I had done. http://our.windowfarms.org/2011/03/06/2-lettuces-in-1-pot-at-19-weeks/
Watercress should work. If you can buy watercress from a food market, it should sprout roots really easily. Maybe mesclun mix salads which produce lettuce, and a bunch of other leaf veggys would be the way to go. Lots of choice there and at least some of the seeds might work every time.

Romaine lettuce works the way you mentioned in your post. It doesn’t take a few days but it does continue to grow and produce new leaves.
Cucumbers are a bit more difficult because the fruit is really heavy and you have to manually pollinate them
