Yes, They work for strawberries, depending on your light and the particular variety of strarwberry seeds. I would consider strawberries a little more advanced, not a starter plant unless you are already a gardener. You might want to start with greens until you get the hang of it and then progress to strawberries. You may also want to start with strawberry seedlings in dirt pots and transplant them in to the wndowfarm by shaking the dirt out of the roots very gently. This time of year, they will be very difficult to find but starting in February or March, they will be available at nurseries all over the place. We may also start selling strawberry seedlings in the store in the Spring and then your purchases will help fund the project.
Hey guys, just a quick suggestion to help cut down on the spam you guys get – require the first post of any new user to be approved by a moderator. It’ll be a bit more work for you guys when you sign on, but it’ll let you make sure it’s a real person and not someone trying to throw up links to Uggs or Gucci stuff. Many forums do this; sure it takes an extra day to get your post up, but it’ll cut down on the late night spam by an incredible amount. Just throwing it out there…
In response to those of you who have inquired about purchasing the windowfarms kits internationally, please note that we are working on it. Currently you cannot purchase windowfarm kits if you live outside of the US, but it is one of our top priorities to get international sales capabilities up and running in the very near future. Please keep checking back with us, and we promise to make a very public announcement when international sales begin!
Hi, I am about to buy the two Colum window farm and I am wondering if the kit includes 8oz of nutrients. On one part of the website they You say 8oz in included in every kit but it also says no nutrients are included.
Also I am a seasoned gardener but I am wondering if the window farm kit comes with directions on how to grow certain plants or should we use this website to figure such things out?
Sorry for any confusion. The Windowfarms kits do not include nutrients. Nutrients must be purchased separately. I just looked through the site and saw the page that erroneously stated that nutrients were included in every kit that you referenced. We are working to correct that mistake and take that language off the website now. Again, our apologies for the confusion. Thank you for your interest and support of Windowfarms and for catching our mistake!
Best,
Destiny

@doctorrobinson Thanks for the antispam tip. We have implemented it and it has already cut down on bad user registrations. I really appreciate the “make a proposal” approach. That’s how we all make progress together!
Hello! I purchased a two-column setup from you about one month ago on 2/20/12. I’m wondering the status of the order, and I’d like to confirm that it was received. I only received an automated email from Google Checkout and did not hear from Windowfarms. I also filled out the “Contact Us” form over a week ago with a similar question, but have never heard back.
I’m really excited to start our windowfarm, but I’d like to know the status of the order! Spring has arrived so I assume it will be shipping soon? Thank you!
I am also wondering on the status of my order. I purchased a 2 column setup in Nov of 2011 and still waiting to receive. Thought the product was in production and to be shipped in Spring. Have not had any communication from your company, why? Beginning to wonder is this is not a scam.
Do you guys wholesale? I have a hydroponics store; http://www.fullbloomhydroponics.com and I think this is right up our clients alley. Please have someone call me or send me a message here.
Here’s my update (see my post above from March 22):
I’ve now sent multiple requests to the supposed seller of the Windowfarm with no response. In my last message I asked for a full refund. I also attempted to call the phone number given on my Google Checkout receipt: 347-903-2767 and the message told me this was not an active “Google Voice” number. The smell of fraud is strengthening now, I hope I haven’t lost my $225 and I hope no one else has (though I see Dana has the same issue and that order was in November!!).
DO NOT PURCHASE FROM WINDOWFARMS.ORG, THEY ARE UNRESPONSIVE AND NOT FULFILLING ORDERS.
Our sincere apologies for your frustration in waiting on a response from Windowfarms. We are working as hard and fast as we can to deliver the Windowfarms orders as soon as we can. I just sent you a personal email response detailing the reason for the delivery delay, but I am reposting here at the bottom of this message, as well.
We received your request to cancel your order and process a full refund, which is in process now. You should receive a personal email from Google checkout with the refund details.
Please contact me directly at destiny@windowfarms.org if you have any other questions or concerns.
Windowfarms production & delivery update:
Unfortunately we have experienced a manufacturing delay with one of the component parts of the Windowfarms. We are waiting for the official word from the factory on the new ship date, but we are estimating it will be June. We ask for your patience as this delay was tied to a necessary design change to one of the giant, precision-cut metal molds that produces the part with the longest lead time. The quality of each component part of the Windowfarm system is of the utmost importance to us, hence the unexpected delay due to this needed design change to one of the molds. We are doing our best to get Windowfarms manufactured and shipped to our customers as soon as we can, so we please ask for your continued patience and support!
I have been having the same problem as Todd. I ordered my Windowfarm a month ago and haven’t been able to reach anyone regarding my purchase. I left multiple comments in the comment box but haven’t gotten a response. I have found the site and the sale to be extremely unresponsive and I would like to cancel my order.
Is this suitable to grow strawberries?
How can I buy them & how much would it cost.

hi!! can i buy one kit if i live in mexico???
Wow, the price is actually pretty competitive. My own single column setup cost about the same to build than you’re charging for the single column.
Can I buy a kit of four in Italy?
