Hello all,
After a fixing a bad ph situation and burning the tips off our strawberries, everything is growing well. Our peas are starting their climb with the structure wires making good support. So happy with our little window farm!

Beans and peas would seem to be a problem in most window farm setups because they climb. I might do a separate window for them after the natural growing season is up and try to come up with a different rig.
Yours are lookin good though
I am a little worried that the peas might overtake the strawberries that are above them, but our window gets a lot of sun and is very tall, so hopefully the strawberries won’t mind the bit of shade the peas will provide. We will have to wait and see how they co-exist.
I am growing beans out doors this summer, but I made sure nothing was above them. They’ll have 6ft of growing space and I put some mesh (bird barrier) up for them to climb.
I think it all depends on the type of beans and peas you grow. There are some varieties that don’t grow that high.
Those look really nice. I do peas as well outside and they climb a good 6ft and they will flower mostly on the upper half. How many plants are growing in each pot?
I wish I had an outside to grow in like you guys, we are in a downtown apartment here, so trying to make due just with our little window farm. We have two rows of 5 planters, the bottom container in each row have peas in them, 3 or 4 pea plants in each. In the top containers we have two strawberries in each container. Cut 2 holes in each bottle to let room for each plant to grow out of. The peas are growing fast.
You can get “bush” type peas and green beans. Both can grow about 12-18″ tall without much support. I grow these in my garden outdoors, rather than the pole types, which require a lot of support. http://bit.ly/beCIfx (beans) http://gurneys.com/little-marvel-pea-/p/14822/ (peas)
