Web Site Usage – New Post w/Picture

1. Log into web site.
2. Hover over the “My Blogs” above and select “New Post”.
3. Add a title to the post. In this case I called it “Web Site Usage – New Post w/Picture”
4. Add some text into the post.
5. See the three icons to the right of the text “Add media”. Click on the first one.
6. Press “Select Files” to choose the pictures to load from your computer.
7. Give the picture a title and caption and then click “Insert into Post”.
8. Choose some appropriate tags and categories for your post. They are to the right.
9. When you are happy with the content, click on the “Publish” button.
10. You can go back to make edits to it and manage the rest of your posts from the “Manage Posts” under “My Blog”.

Thanks for the step-by-step, it looks very thorough. My problem from the beginning is that I get nothing from hovering over My Blogs, no dropdown, nada. Hovering works fine for all the other options in the grey bar, but My Blogs is a dud for me. If I click on My Blogs it just takes me to the “welcome” page. I’ve tried a couple of different browsers, but no joy. Thus I can not follow any of your fine instructions.
All I can do is post status updates (with no pics) and reply to comments (again no pics). Really, all anyone would want to see is the photos so I don’t have anything to post.
Oh, that sucks. I wish I could help more, but I don’t work for the WF folks and this sounds like some type of bug. The site is a little buggy sometimes and they are working on the next version. I dropped a note in the group “WordPress/BuddyPress Programmers Needed for Version 2″ and maybe someone will see that and can help you.
Did you want to make this post accessible for registered users only, or is this yet another bug ?
Yes, Tony it has been frustrating, but at least I can see what others are doing. Thanks again for looking at the situation, and your original post should be most helpful for other folks.
Thanks for pointing this out. At first I thought it was a bug. I made this post the same as alll my others. The publish visibility is set “Public”. I experimented and tried to set it to private and then back to public to see if it would reset, but that did not help. Then I logged out and tried some other posts. All my posts were ok except this one. Then I tried others posts and most were ok til I got to Edwardos post, @princeoflight, on light sources. It did the same thing. What was common between them was the fact that we set the category to “How to”. I changed my post from “How to” to “uncategorized” since it does not fit in elsewhere. Doing that fixed it. There must be some special security rights with the “How to” category so that people have to log in to get access to the windowfarm instructions.
Well, I have a new account, and apparently now I can post my own topics, but I cannot for life find a way to post pictures, or even pitcures, for that matter. There is no option to “add media”.
White flag. It’s too much.
Wow, are you saying that the add new post looks like the picture above, but that the “Add media” and the three icons to the right are not showing up?
This might be browser related and I would clear your cache and cookies. Maybe things in the cache and cookies are related to your old account and things are messed up. I found this. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/ There is a link with instructions on how to do the clearing.
