Suggestion for our.windowfarms.org interface

If there were a way to indicate “location” in one’s profile, it would be easier to contact members nearby. Although i suppose the “groups” system sort of does th’ job for you. just a suggestion.
good call.
When you are not a member and you are on the page http://www.windowfarms.org/ there is no direct link to create an account. I think it’s not very user friendly.
Thanks for the suggestion Dan. We are in the midst of planning a new website right now so feedback is always welcome!
Another useful thing might be to separate the “became a registered member”s from the actual posts in the Activity column, so you can keep up with what’s being posted without having to load 10 pages of registrations.
Thank you to all of you for your suggestions. We know that this interface is, as one person put it, “user-hostile.” We definitely agree. We have an awesome team designing the user interface for version 2.0 but we are definitely WAAAY short on programmers. Our two programmers can only donate so much of their time for free. If you are a WordPress MU-savvy windowfarmer and you are willing to contribute some time to the project, please contact britta at info[at]windowfarms.org. We can sure use your help. At some point, we may migrate to Drupal, so if you are a Drupal ninja please be in touch too.
Glad to know a new interface is under works. Either way, thank you all so much for the effort, creativity, and generosity behind the info you’re putting out into the world!
I agree with Dan, maybe there could be a global map module thing that shows where all the members are or some sort of search engine where member location can be a parameter. Can’t wait to see the 2.0 version
Maybe this would help?

looking forward to the new interface, I’d help if I had the skills…
Thanks to all of you for your insights. We are really taking them to heart and have included them in our documentation. Thanks to the NPR piece, we are getting a lot of new traffic and some interest from wordpress programmers who may help us build the new site!! -Britta
