Outdoor Window Garden

I am not sure when I am going to have time to actually construct my reservoir window garden but my girlfriend and I have a little spot outside one of our windows that we would like to put it. Here in San Francisco we don’t have to deal with frost and the spot is in an interior of a building (but still outside) that gets lots of indirect light and doesn’t get windy. We are planning on setting up light bulbs. Does anyone know of anything that I need watch out for or see any potential problems with this plan?
I would watch our for rain in two ways: 1) shorting out the lightbulbs, 2) raining into the system and messing with concentrations of your nutrient solution. You might also need to have some remedies lined up for treating pests like aphids (veggiepharm!!). If you get those covered, go for it and post ASAP. Post while you are building it too. That’s where are all the good info for other folks is generally revealed or interesting questions come up.
