Hi. I used hardy herbs and they can survive a lot of fluctuating conditions–basil, bee balm, thyme, rosemary etc. I tried greens but have been less successful. Hope that helps.
I’ve got the same question….Not only are we n00bs to window farming, but we are also trying to start up our window farm in the dead of New York winter. (The space is heat controlled of course, but I worry about whether the cold from the window will still be too much for them.)
So herbs sound like a good place to start…Any other suggestions for someone just starting out? I was thinking kale, collards, or some other hearty green. Or a lettuce that does well in cold weather.
